Although Warble specialises in wedding bands and cover bands that perform a fantastic general mix of music from the 1960s to present day, they are also able to provide Jazz Bands, Latin Bands, Irish Bands, Swing Bands, Soul Bands and even Mariachi Bands.
Wedding bands and cover bands come in all shapes and sizes and in addition, every wedding is different and so the wedding entertainment timetable may vary to that mentioned below. However, what follows is the basic, standard set-up that most wedding bands or cover bands will work to when providing quotes to perform as wedding entertainment.
Wedding bands will usually arrive at 6pm in order to set-up and sound check at your venue. In some cases where the performance is taking place in the same room as the meal (and there is no turnaround time for the room) the cover bands may need to arrive earlier to set-up. In this instance an additional charge to the standard fee may be applicable depending on how much earlier the band will be required to set-up.
The sound check and setting up time for wedding bands normally takes between 60 – 90 minutes depending on how easy access is to the performance area. For example, how far is it from the parking, are there stairs to climb, etc?
The bands will normally perform 2 x 60 or 3 x 40 minute live sets between 8pm and midnight. It is always advisable to listen to the band and their suggestions as they will have the best idea of what works with regards to timings as they have plenty of experience. For example, having the first live set at 8pm may not be the best idea if evening guests are only just arriving and are currently chatting as opposed to being ready to dance the night away.
Some wedding bands and cover bands will offer a DJ Option where a member of the band can take requests via a Laptop or iPod. And, in some cases, bands will offer a complete separate DJ with full lighting rig etc.
As standard, wedding bands will finish either their last performance or stop the pre-recorded music at midnight, more often than not in compliance with the venue’s licence. Where a 1am or later finish is required a cover band may make a slight additional charge for this.
Once the event is over the wedding bands will break down (or pack away) their equipment, load up the vehicles and head off!
Always remember that wedding bands and cover bands may have travelled quite some way to perform as the entertainment for your wedding. And, if you want your wedding music at its absolute best, performed by wedding musicians who are fully vitalised and awake… please keep them refreshed with soft drinks and food whilst they are at your venue. It does not need to be anything lavish and they do not expect to be sitting at the wedding breakfast with you, but a platter of sarnies or a helping at the buffet spread really makes for a grateful and energised band.
